Meet Bella Porter — Peer Recovery Coach
Bella’s story is one of resilience, faith, and redemption. Her journey from incarceration and addiction to healing and hope is a powerful reminder that recovery is always possible — and that no one is beyond a second chance.
“My name is Bella, and I am a 27-year-old mother of four beautiful children. I have been in recovery for five years, but my journey here was far from easy. On May 2, 2020, God pulled me out of the darkness of my addiction and gave me a second chance at life. I know what it feels like to be locked in a jail cell, pregnant, and withdrawing, with no support system and nowhere to turn. There were many times I was released from incarceration with nothing to my name, and I went right back to using because it was all I had and all I knew. But through God’s grace, I was eventually given the opportunity to enter a long-term rehabilitation program, and that’s where my healing began. Those moments of brokenness built the foundation for who I am today and gave me the heart to help others find their way out of the same darkness I once lived in.
I chose to become a Peer Recovery Coach because I want to be the person I once needed—someone who listens without judgment, offers understanding, and reminds people that no one is too far gone to be redeemed. My heart is with those who feel lost, forgotten, or hopeless. Today, with over five years clean, I know that recovery is possible and that God can restore what we once thought was lost forever. I’m grateful for where I am, and I can’t wait to walk beside others as they discover hope, healing, and freedom beyond the walls of addiction and incarceration.”
