Meet Casey Snyder — Peer Support

Casey Snyder is a person in long-term recovery since January 23, 2023—a date that is also her birthday. She brings compassion, lived experience, and a strong commitment to supporting individuals as they navigate addiction, recovery, and reentry. Casey’s background includes work in both treatment and correctional settings, along with a deep personal understanding of the challenges many of SWIRE’s participants face.

“My name is Casey Snyder, and I’m an addict in recovery. My story begins with early loss—when I was three, my mother was killed by a drunk driver, and I was raised by my dad and family members who were all in active addiction. I started using at seventeen and spent years in unstable situations, including homelessness, abusive relationships, and repeated hospitalizations without a safe place to go. My turning point came in 2023 when I was offered a bed in sober living for the first time. Having a safe, stable place changed everything. I stayed for eight months, earned my peer certification, and began rebuilding my life. Since then, I’ve worked in both treatment and jail settings, and I’ve found a recovery pathway and a Higher Power that give me clarity and purpose. My kids are my biggest motivation and the reason I never gave up.

I want to change the way people think about the word ‘addict.’ An addict in recovery can do unbelievable things. I’m honored to be part of SWIRE and to help others find the same hope and support that helped me.”
